Summer Time and Seasonal Goals.

It's summer and it's time to have fun. Summer seems like the most anticipated season of the year, ESPECIALLY when you live in the rain the other 3 seasons of the year.  I am going to enjoy the festivities of summer that entail backyard barbecues, beaches and the joys of wearing sandals. But I also decided that since it's a new season, it's a good time to set a new goal for my life. We always set goals at the beginning of the year, but why not for each season? 

At Unlock Mag we believe in unlocking your life to live your best. If you start setting short term goals, you're destined to accomplish a lot and boost your life as you advance in your dreams; ultimately, making you successful on the inside and the outside. Life was created to move forward, so take advantage of your opportunities to move forward and set goals. 

Since I found myself feeling a little weak and not as energized, I talked to health experts and decided my goal this summer would be strength training for stronger leaner muscles. Summer is usually when we are more conscious of our bodies, since it's bathing suit season, I decided it's a great time to set a goal for strength training. Then I can watch my muscles grow and feel more energized for the long summer days. 

I encourage you to imagine something in your life you desire to see changed and make a goal. This summer make it your best and most satisfying yet. Also here are some great reasons why weight training will unlock your life to another level:

1. Weight training tones your muscles which looks great and raises your basal metabolism...which causes you to burn more calories 24 hours a day. You'll even burn more calories while you're sleeping.

2. Weight training can reverse the natural decline in your metabolism which begins around age 30.

5. Weight training strengthens your bones reducing your risk of developing osteoporosis.

Spring Beauty Tips

The first day of spring arrived yesterday, March 20th, which was accompanied by a lovely sunny day and blossoming cherry trees! With more beautiful natural surroundings during this season, how about a self-spring cleaning into a more beautiful person? Take a read through the following poem for some inspiration!

Pondering on an airplane.

I am on a plane traveling again. As I see the world from a different view, up high in the sky, I think of how BIG this world is. I think of how many women are on this planet and how many are looking for resources to empower their world. I think about how many are on the verge of breakdown because life has not treated them rightly. How many need hope and inspiration and it reminds me of how UNLOCK MAGAZINE desires to unlock a world of possibilities and hope for women all around the world.

We need women to partner with us. We need women who have overcome in life and feel they can be an inspiration for the women who are struggling. Life can be hard but with faith and encouragement from women who have rose to the occasion and defeated the odds, inspiration can empower with unlimited possibilities.

As I sit here thinking about the original motivation to start UNLOCK, it all originated from once being a girl who struggled through difficult circumstances, needed help and made a choice: to be a girl who surrounded herself with encouraging people who boosted her to live past her pain. My pure motivation in dreaming of UNLOCK was to make a change in our culture and enrich women's lives to live a life they were made for. To be strengthened, encouraged, and feel beautiful. To embrace who God made them to be and for what God made them to do.

Life has so much in store and it's in our reach short of a dream. Dream with me today in what your life and our world could be with women who desire to reach out and focus on others over themselves.

INCREDIBLE

Incredible. This is the one word that best describes this week, just incredible.

This week in Vancouver many dreams have been turned to reality! Amazing athletes who pursued their idea's or desire's - when others were just placing their goals in a glass box to think about - are seeing their determination come to fruiton.

In light of this, I am reminded of my own goals.  Have I worked towards them, or put them aside in a box as something 'nice' to think about. 

I challenge everyone reading to take action towards personal dreams and see what incredible things may be brought forth through honest effort!

LOVE. Valentines Day.

It's February 14th - Valentines Day. It's a great day to celebrate LOVE

You don't have to be in a romantic relationship to take part in this day! Find someone you can write a letter of appreciation to, or someone you can brighten up their day with Valentines sweets. Everyone loves thoughtfulness no matter their relationship status. 

I will be celebrating with my sweet heart exchanging kind words of appreciation and love. It's another day to remember to spread LOVE and make someone's day. It's a great Holiday if you take advantage of expressing love.
